CLARKS

The story of Clarks began about 200 years ago, when Cyrus and James Clark began for the first time to produce slippers and slippers starting from scraps of sheepskin, an idea that was totally innovative at the time. Inventiveness and craftsmanship are today as then at the center of the brand, which has always distinguished itself for its ability to think outside the box. From the slipper created by Cyrus and James Clark in 1825 to the first shoe in the world in the shape of a foot; from children's products made in whole sizes, half sizes and with an advanced footbed measurer created specifically on iPad; from the innovative shock absorber to rapid prototyping, up to 3D printing. Clarks has always been synonymous with innovation and transformation, a true revolution in the world of footwear.

The first casual shoe in the world, the Clarks Desert Boot, is unmistakable today as it was in 1950: it in fact maintains all the original details of the first model. The inspiration for this first creation came to Nathan Clark in an apparently unlikely way: from a rough suede boot, found at the old Cairo bazaar, at the time very popular among off-duty army officers. While sitting cross-legged on the floor of a tent in Burma, Clark made the initial sketches and a first prototype of the shoe. Once back in Glastonbury, Clark prepared the very first model of what would later become the ankle boot that we all know and love today.

For over 50 years, Clarks Wallabees have been a true icon in the footwear world. Wallabees immediately appeared on the covers of influential musical artists, including some of the most important reggae exponents. Since then, they have been loved by everyone, including many Hollywood artists and hip-hop stars. From Jamaican dancehall artists to MODs, from Hollywood to hip-hop, the elegance and talent of Clarks Originals has made these shoes the favorites of subcultures all over the world.
