ENGINEERED GARMENTS

Engineered Garments was founded in 1999 in New York City by the creative genius of the renowned Japanese designer Daiki Suzuki. His vision of fashion and clothing focuses on vintage and casual shapes, which come to life through quality materials. Part of the Japanese Nepenthes group, Engineered Garments has consolidated its position and original style over the years, creating garments that are able to combine the Japanese roots of the brand and its creator, with Daiki Suzuki's passion for vintage American clothing.

Suzuki's love for fashion blossomed in 1975, after passionately reading the first editions of the Made In U.S.A. catalog and the prestigious Popeye magazine, both publications on fashion, clothing, and American culture. Daiki then began to develop the dream of becoming a designer. Shortly after graduating from the Vantan Design Institute, Suzuki found work in a store in Union Square, where he met Keizo Shimizu, the founder of Nepenthes. After leaving Union Square, Suzuki was invited to work at Redwood, Shimizu's first retail store. Rich in American clothing and decorations, Redwood proved to be the perfect place for Suzuki, who had the opportunity to deepen his knowledge of the peculiarity and complexity of American clothing and culture.

Shortly after, Suzuki joined Shimizu at Nepenthes as a buyer, exploring shoe, sneaker, and military clothing stores in Boston. Subsequently, Daiki moved to New York City. This city and its magnetic charm would become central to the aesthetic of Engineered Garments. Starting from American fashion and clothing, Daiki deconstructs and reinterprets old shapes and lines, proposing new designs built according to his personal vision.

Characterized by its "Japanese New Americana" aesthetic, Engineered Garments is famous for its cargo pants, shirts, workwear-style overalls, and blazers, available in a wide range of fabrics, suitable for every season. One of the brand's most iconic pieces is the Bedford Jacket, inspired by historical sports jackets, with a removable three-button structure and four applied external pockets. The Button Down shirt is also a staple of Engineered Garments, inspired by 19th century designs, with a three-quarter button-up and a curved hem. The garment features an applied chest pocket and a button-down collar. Inspired by the world of military-wear, the CPO Shirt is a piece that has been loved and appreciated by everyone for years, offered each year in new color and fabric variations.
