1937 was a year of great change for the United States, and these jeans bear witness to the transformation. The design was updated and modified: the suspender buttons were removed, the back rivets were hidden, and one of the first versions of the now famous Red Tab™ was added. Just to satisfy customers who complained that the jean scratched saddles and seats, Levis began sewing the back pockets so as to cover the metal rivets. This model began the rise of the iconic Red Tab™, a detail first introduced in 1936 to differentiate Levi's® jeans from competitors in the market. Needless to say, the Red Tab™ has stuck.
